Service Alert for Thursday and Friday Customers!

Posted 2/23/23 at 5:20pm

Due to continued winter weather conditions, we will not be running any residential routes on Friday, 2/24. Our goal will be to send out residential drivers on Saturday 2/25, weather permitting.

If we are able to safely run on Saturday, our plan is outlined below.

  • Garbage: We will attempt to pick up Thursday and Friday garbage customers. Garbage will be our first priority.
  • Recycling:
    • Every other week collection: If you live in an area with every other week recycling collection and your recycling collection would have been Thursday 2/23 or Friday 2/24, we will attempt to get your recycling picked up on Saturday 2/25. If your recycling is not picked up on 2/25, it will not be serviced until your next regularly scheduled every other week collection (in 2 weeks) and you can put out extras. Please place your extras in a paper bag, cardboard box, or in your red bin if there is no glass in it. It cannot be placed in plastic bags.
    • Weekly collection: If you live in an area with weekly recycling collection, we will not be collecting your recycling this week. This is so we can prioritize your garbage collection. On your next recycling pick up (in 1 week), you can place out extras for no charge. Please place your extras in a paper bag, cardboard box, or in your red bin if there is no glass in it. It cannot be placed in plastic bags.
  • Yard debris: We will not attempt to pick up yard debris from customers not collected on 2/23 or 2/24. With these cold temperatures, most yard debris will be frozen inside of the carts and this will allow us to prioritize your garbage collection by putting our resources there.
    • Every other week collection: If you live in an area with every other week yard debris collection, you can put out extra yard debris on your next regularly scheduled yard debris day (in 2 weeks). You can place out up to 60gallons of extra yard debris per yard debris cart at your home. That is equivalent to (2) paper yard debris bags or (2) personal 32gallon cans. Extra yard debris cannot be in plastic bags, it must be in paper yard debris bags or a personal plastic tote.

  • Glass: These drivers have to exit their vehicle at each stop, which creates a safety hazard in these conditions. We will not be running glass routes on Saturday 2/25.
    • If your glass was scheduled for collection on Thursday, 2/23 or Friday 2/24, you can place out extra glass on your next glass day (in 2 weeks) for no charge. Place it in a cardboard box or rigid plastic container (like a bucket) next to your red bin.

Please keep in mind that any decision to run modified routes is because safety is our priority. We apologize for any inconvenience, but the safety of our employees is important to us; they have to be able to make it to work safely as well as drive the trucks through your neighborhoods. Your safety is also important to us. Our trucks have to stop and start at every home, which is not easy to do in the snow and ice. With more people home in this kind of weather, it will mean more people and cars in the streets as well.

If you have any questions, please contact our office. Our staff may be limited due to weather conditions and our recycling depot will be closed 2/24 and will reopen Monday, 2/27. We appreciate your patience.
