Wildfire Service Alert for Friday 9/11 customers

Due to the ongoing hazardous air quality, all references to "Friday 9/18" means "Saturday 9/19" as we are now running routes 1 day late this week.

Due to the ongoing Chehalem Mountain-Bald Peak wildfire, customers in that direct area will have service impacted on Friday, 9/11. We will attempt to service as many customers near the area as possible while prioritizing the health and safety of our drivers. If your service is impacted, we will not be back until the following service day:

  • Garbage: You will be allowed extras in bags (equal to your service level) next to your cart at no additional charge on Friday, 9/18.
  • Recycling: If 9/11 is a recycling day for your home, we will pick up extra recycling on your next recycling day (9/25) at no charge. You can place it in a cardboard box, paper bag, or rigid plastic container like a laundry basket.
  • Glass: If 9/11 is a glass recycling day for your home, we will not be picking up glass this week, we will pick up extra glass on your next glass day (9/25). You can place it in a cardboard box, paper bag, or rigid plastic container like a laundry basket.

City of Sherwood, Friday customers: Your Friday services will be impacted depending on air quality and available staffing on Friday. We have employees who have been evacuated from their homes or are in level 2 evacuation areas and we are understaffed. Due to these staffing concerns and additional health concerns related to air quality, we will not be picking up glass this week. Your glass scheduled for 9/11 will be collected on 10/9. You can place out extra glass in a cardboard box, paper bag, or rigid plastic container like a laundry basket. Our glass drivers have to exit the vehicle to manually collect glass at each home and due to the poor air quality in town, we are trying to limit their exposure as much as possible. It is possible we will be forced to cut back on additional services, the other commodities will be picked up in the following priority order: 1) Garbage 2) Recycling 3) Yard Debris. If we are forced to prioritize these services, we will let you know.

Update on 9/11/20 at 8:15am:
We are suspending collection of yard debris. If your yard debris was not picked up prior to this decision, it will not be serviced until Friday 9/18. We will be splitting up the remaining garbage/recycling routes among the yard debris drivers to get them done as quickly as possible so our drivers can limit their exposure to the poor air quality. On Friday 9/18 you can place out extra yard debris (in a personal can or paper yard debris bags) and we will pick up double your service level at no charge.

Please make sure your materials are out for pick up by 6am. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any questions please contact us.

Finally, our thoughts are with those who are impacted by the devastating fires currently around us. We also want to express our heartfelt appreciation and thanks to those who are working tirelessly to extinguish the fires and keep everyone safe!
