2019 Holiday Drive
Every November Pride Disposal holds an annual holiday drive where we collect donations during the month for a local organization. This year we have chosen the Domestic Violence Resource Center (DVRC) as the recipient. DVRC provides service to all of Washington County and provides support and resources for survivors of domestic violence. DVRC also runs Monika's House, which is Washington County's only confidential domestic violence shelter. The shelter is named Monika's House in memory of Monika Voits who was murdered by her husband in January of 1999. Monika's House is a 24-bed facility (6 family units and 3 single-person units) providing safe and confidential crisis shelter for more than 200 adults, children, and their pets fleeing imminent physical danger from family violence each year.
Here is a list of what the most immediate needs are for the shelter:
- New twin size bed linens (sheets, comforters, pillows)
- New bath towel sets
- Toilet paper
- Paper towels
- Counter top cleaner
- Unscented laundry detergent
- Liquid hand soap
- Dishwasher detergent
- Clorox/Lysol wipes
- Toilet cleaner
- Shower cleaner
- Ziploc bags, all sizes
- Baby wipes
- New packages of socks (child & adult), all sizes
- New sweatpants (child & adult), all sizes
- New t-shirts (child & adult), all sizes
- New underwear (child & adult), all sizes
- New sports bras, all sizes
- New sweatshirts (child & adult), all sizes
- Gloves/Mittens
- Gift cards (Fred Meyer, Winco, Target, Lyft, Uber)
These items are for the use within the shelter, if you are wanting to provide Costco sized items or grocery sized items for the toilet paper and cleaning products either are accepted and appreciated. This is a wonderful organization providing a great service for local Washington County residents. We will graciously accept any donations from our customers who would also like to participate. You may bring donation items to our office located at 13980 SW Tualatin Sherwood Rd during the month of November. Thank you for helping us at Pride to make this a successful donation!
