2022 Holiday Drive
Every November, Pride Disposal & Recycling Company holds an annual holiday drive where we collect donations from our employees and customers in support of a local organization. We will be accepting donations during the month at our office located in Sherwood. This year we have chosen Just Compassion of East Washington County as the recipient. Please see the below list of what items are most needed:
- Baby wipes
- Warm, winter gloves
- Sleeping bags
- 2-person tents (can be used if in good condition & have all the pieces)
- Disposable hand warmers
- Long johns - men's and women's sizing
- Underwear - men's and women's sizing
- Non-perishable food: dried pasta, pasta sauce, peanut butter, jelly, tuna, pancake mix, chili and soup. Costco/large size preferred, but they are grateful for any.
More information on Just Compassion: Just Compassion operates a shelter in Tigard 24/7/365 that serves people experiencing houselessness. They have 20 beds for adults and serve all genders. They also operate a resource center that provides guests with clothing and resources that they may need. They also operate a seasonal shelter in Beaverton that operates from November 1st through the end of April. There are 30 beds that are available to all genders. The Beaverton shelter also includes meals, showers, and access to laundry services.
Just Compassion also offers a safe parking program, where they have partnered with the City of Beaverton and Beaverton Police to open various undisclosed safe parking locations. It allows participants to park somewhere safe with access to storage and a restroom, as well as a case manager who assists with housing and resources. There are currently 5 locations where 3 cars can be located for a total of 15 households served in the program. Safe Parking guests also have access to meals and showers at the Tigard Resource Center.
This is a wonderful organization providing a great resource for our local residents. We will graciously accept any donations, thank you for helping us make this a successful donation this year!
